The Zoetrope Kit

Thesis

According to national education non-profit Project Tomorrow, less than 10% of schools in the United States report having access to virtual reality, artificial intelligence and other immersive technologies. Sequences addresses accessibility in instructional material design. Specifically it presents the zoetrope, an early animation generator, that can be re-employed as a cost-effective tool used for multi-sensory learning in early childhood education. As a designer, I believe it is important to see the value in designing for analog devices that present equitable solutions to the discrepancies in the public education systems.

The Zoetrope Kit

The Zoetrope Kit

This wooden zoetrope was laser cut and can be assembled without requiring the use of any glue or hardware. The modular design allows for the cards of a flipbook to be placed into the zoetrope for viewing.
